The Surfer Kids Chase Competition From Kommetjie to Jeffreys Bay!
Updated: 4 days ago
The past month has been a busy one for The Surfer Kids, with our Sharks spending plenty of time on the road, chasing contests, testing themselves against some of the best junior surfers in the country, and gaining valuable experience along the way.

Our first stop was Long Beach Kommetjie for the Sea Harvest Cape Crown, where the TSK Sharks made their return to the cold waters of the Cape. Competing in Cape Town is never easy. The cold water, different waves and unfamiliar environment can be a big adjustment for our surfers, but our juniors adapted well and gave it everything they had. Two of the standout performances came from Avethandwa Mosikare and Tebogo Serfontein. Tebogo fought his way through the rounds and made it all the way to the U14 Boys semi-final, while Avethandwa put together another strong performance, finishing 4th in the U12 Boys final.
What stood out most was the courage and determination shown by the boys throughout the event. Over the past couple of seasons, we have watched them grow, not only as surfers but also in the way they approach competition. Heat by heat, they are becoming more confident, more determined and more willing to put themselves under pressure and fight for every wave.
There was hardly any time to rest after Cape Crown, as the TSK Sharks were back on the road — this time heading to Jeffreys Bay, where they represented the Eden Surf Riders Association at the Sea Harvest South African Junior Championships. J-Bay delivered some tough conditions, with howling easterly winds and the determined push of the northwesterly gales making things challenging for the surfers. But tough conditions are also where surfers learn, adapt and grow — and this was certainly an event to remember for our team.

Five TSK surfers made the Eden team and competed at the national championships. We are incredibly proud to say that we achieved our best result yet at the South African Junior Championships, with Inam Falteni and Azonwabe Matyeke both reaching the U16 Boys quarter-finals and finishing equal 10th overall in the country. This is a big step forward for our surfers and another sign that all the hard work happening behind the scenes is starting to show in the results.
For Inam, Azo and the rest of the TSK Sharks, this is only the beginning. Every contest, every heat and every challenging wave adds another piece to their development as competitive surfers. We are excited to see where this journey takes them next.
With the junior surfing season now coming to a close, we have some time to look back at this season with pride — but there is no slowing down. The lessons, experience and confidence gained this year will help lay the foundation for an even stronger season ahead.
Hard work. Determination. Commitment. Progress.
Well done and congratulations to all our Surfer Kids who competed this season. We are proud of every one of you.

The TSK Surf Series Is Back!
And just when you thought the action was over… the TSK Surf Series is back!
Our final contest of the year is coming up on 17 October 2026, and after coming straight off the back of the South African Junior Championships, our Sharks are recharged, motivated and ready to get back in the water.
This contest will form part of the Mossel Bay Sports Festival, and we are looking forward to another great day of surfing and community.
We are expecting surfers from across the Eden region to join us, and we cannot wait to welcome everyone back to Mossel Bay for another day of good waves, good competition and, most importantly, a great surfing community.
The year isn't over yet. Let's finish it strong!
